Abstract
The paper discusses the interaction between the (acoustic) sound pressure field and the (elastic) flexible wall of an enclosure. Such problems frequently arise when the vibrating walls of a transportation vehicle induce a significant internal sound field. The walls themselves may be excited by external fluid flows. Briefly considered are a mathematical model, simplified solutions for sinusoidal excitation, damping, random excitation, numerical results including comparison with representative experimental data, and design analysis methodology.
